FORTESSA’S “OCEANA®” ACHIEVES RARE DISTINCTION
Sterling, VA - In the world of fine tableware, rarely does a particular pattern of china show such distinction that it merits official recognition by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. But, Fortessa’s “Oceana” pattern displays that distinction as a new, original, and ornamental design, which has earned Fortessa the award of a Design Patent for “Oceana”.
In the United States, design patents for tableware items are relatively uncommon. Mere ornamentation or unusual features, however combined, are not enough to earn Design Patent recognition. The article must be “new” and “original”. “Oceana” dinnerware glows with a creamy-white elegance, accented by rippling waves of embossment flowing around a wide border. The fluid, sculptural design brings a sumptuous aura to the natural beauty of the china.
Eric Hamberger, co-founder and co-president of Fortessa, is also the co-inventor of the design. Mr. Hamberger has been a special resource for the Company creating the very best examples of tableware art expressed in “Durable Elegance”. As Mr. Hamberger said upon news of the Design Patent grant, “Fortessa has always been new and original- in its business performance for its customers and in the products it offers its customers. “Oceana” is just the latest example, and, we will do more!”
